You may have not been able to notice that the Ckyne synagogue, being quite a dominant building of the town, has been brightened up with new windows. It was possible thanks to the grant of the District Culture Department and among other contributions namely Mr. Löffler. Our Common Weal Company for Reconstruction of the Ckyne Synagogue signalises in this way a hope for better future. We were opening many various doors waiting for the time when more important monuments and sights would be reconstructed. Nowadays we have had some doors opened a little, some wide. An essential question has remained. If we apply our request for grant, it will only be given with some 15 to 25 % of participation. That is – relating about 6 million crowns we need for the finishing, very very much. Our municipality has agreed a decision to give a contribution for the participation only in the case our Company will provide most of it with help of donators.
  And this is we are turning to you, the readers. For the whole May our synagogue will be opened – under the frame of the 60th Anniversary of the end of the WW II - through a great exposition of old photographs and chronicles. We are inviting you warmly - the exposition is opened from 3pm to 5pm every day, or you can contact the municipality 388 423 170 or 736 480 476.   Would you be interested in the matter more, you are invited to enter our association – Common Weal Company for Reconstruction of the Ckyne Synagogue. Our new members are these respected citizens: Pater Jan Janoušek, Catholic cleric in Ckyne; Ing. Josef Ji?i?ka and Ing. Vladimír Silovský, long time employees of the Sumava National Park, Miroslav Knotek, educator; Pavel Nazarský, art designer.
  In the course of the May Exposition and preparations other co citizens have entered our Company, and that is the synagogue is going to be: a device of communication, co-operation, and most of all making contact throughout the people in the region. Well, during the work - hard work – in the synagogue to prepare the rooms for the exposition about 20 young people from Ckyne came! On Sunday…
 
  But it is not about Ckyne and surroundings, V?nec Micro Region, or South Bohemia only. Not even only about the Czech Republic - we have our well-wishers in the USA, Australia, Netherlands…
  Let the synagogue being the real point of meeting!
