Saturday October 5, 2013 was the rededication of the Ckyne Synagogue in the Czech Republic. Descendants of many Jewish families of this small village assembled from all corners of the globe to celebrate. Among the guests were the fourth and fifth great grandsons of Rabbi Mendel Bloch who headed the synagogue when it opened in 1828. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ew-rmixumpY
The Shabbat service last Saturday was very long, but no one minded it too much as it was a very special day indeed. In the following video one can really appreciate Michal's strong voice and all the preparation to reach the reading in this fine old Torah from 1828. By the way, it will be soon shipped for a two year restoration.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KD3N_LpTkkk
